Set up!!!
I have had my bike fit and it makes a HUGE difference to me! Why did I need it...what is the difference...
Doing longer distances is a literal pain in the bum, also I tend to get numbness in hands and or feet and slight shoulder neck pain from old shoulder injury. The totality of this is not the most comfortable ride and don't feel as efficient as I want to be. So after Mike at Bridgtown bike fitted me I now have both comfort and improved efficiency. The it must or is uncomfortable on a bike is a myth!!!!!!!! For those that may not know Mike is also my husband, I am also a physio and so had an idea of what I hoped to achieve re pain and injuries. There was no marital strife in the process and the little millimetre tweaks here and there make such a huge difference. So if you have not had one it is so worth it...but do not listen to my waffle see below for what the eminent and uber awesome Chrissie Wellington had to say...

Why use Bridgtown Cycles Bike-fit Services?
This is what Chrissie Wellington Says ... this is the un-edited full testimonial she sent us (as featured in 220 mag) ...
"Nothing gives me more pleasure (aside from maybe cake and bike rides and a combination of both) than to write this testimonial. The only issue is that there are not enough superlatives to do justice to the incredible service I have received from Mike, and the whole of the team at Bridgtown Bikes.
I spent 5 years as a professional triathlete … achieving a little bit of global success along the way. I loved riding my bike, but I have to admit – I was rarely comfortable. I was constantly shifting around like a cat on a hot tin saddle and suffered from chronic lower back pain, which got worse as my career progressed. I was also total inept as a bike handler: which I thought was down some innate personal incompetence that couldn’t be rectified. I had some bike fits. Nothing worked.
I retired from professional sport in 2012, and since then traded the TT bike for the road bike. Still the ‘hot tin saddle/bad back’ problem persisted and I remained totally inept at going downhill and around bends. I was getting increasingly frustrated, and despondent – not least because I, and 3 friends, had devised this bonkers charity challenge – called the 4321 Challenge – which involved scaling the 3 highest mountains in UK, and cycling between them … A total of 420miles in the saddle (www.4321challenge.org). I despaired at the thought of the discomfort I knew I would have to endure on two wheels, not to mention the liability I would be if I couldn’t stay upright due to my suboptimal bike handing. I needed a final straw to clutch at. My partner and pro triathlete Tom (Lowe) had reaped the bike set up rewards of working with Mike, and suggested I go to Bridgtown for a fit. Sceptical but prepared to clutch at that final straw I did just that.
It’s not an exaggeration to say that the bike fit was a total REVELATION. I don’t say that lightly. The whole process took about 3 hours, from the initial consultation where I explained the issues I had been dealing with through to the final finishing touches of some shiny new bar tape. Mike was so incredibly thorough, had an eye for the smallest of details, and left no stone unturned in the pursuit of comfort, better bike handing and (of course) that little bit of free-speed too. He understood exactly what it was that I needed and ensured the bike was ‘fit-for-purpose’, rather than trying to apply a generic ‘cookie cutter’ solution to a very individual problem and need. The bike-fit has not only helped me FINALLY ride pain free, it has also revolutionised my ability to corner and descend.
I have absolutely NO hesitation at all in recommending Mike to anyone who wants to maximise comfort and performance on two wheels. Even if you think your set up is perfect I bet your bottom dollar (or any dollar in fact) that there’s room for a few tweaks of improvement.
It is in no small part thanks to Mike that I was able to complete the epic 4321 Challenge pain free and also keep the bike “rubber side down”. I can now look forward to every single bike ride knowing that I finally feel “at one” with my two wheeled machine. Mike is an absolute genius, and I will be forever grateful!"
