Hi all Mike from Bridgtown cycles has kindly offered to check all our bikes on Sat morning. So change of plan.....
1) Book your bikes in at Bridgtown cycles on Sat am (http://www.btownbikes.com). He is open from 8.30
2) We can all meet there at 10 for coffee, chat and general psyching each other up (not that we'll need it - we'll all be ready by then!!)
3) Then head over to Shugborough hall for briefing at 11.30, register, rack bags etc
4) Then drive to Chasewater to rack bike
I'm not sure who is in the hotel - i'm in a cheap one the race gave me to save the TCT paying for one. But if you guys wanted to meet up for dinner perhaps arrange that yourselves.
See you on Sat, In the meantime practice your finish line dances!

That sounds great Lucy.
This might be a daft question, but is there anything in particular we could do as newbies to make Saturday as stress free as possible?
E.g. I am planning to have my running and cycling bag kit separated already to throw into the blue and red bags when we pick them up.
Very vague question - sorry!

HI Giles. Saturday can be stressful - there's always tons to do. But just try to view it as part of the process and don't worry if there is traffic. There's loads of time. I like the idea of separating bike and run kit before you register. Work out your nutrition plan and have it all sorted. Remember your ID to register. Clean your swim goggles before the race! And check your tyres are ok - if there is grit in them get it out before the race. Do everything you can to minimise risk of punctures.
Carry some snacks and water with you too so if you're stuck waiting for something you don't get hungry. Emma - make sure you have a breakfast plan!!!!
We can talk through the things you do when you rack your bags and bike but it's always useful to walk through transition the way you will do it in the race so you remember where you're going and where your bike is!
See you Sat! Lucy

If it's a big T1 which it will be then take some photos as you do your run through of landmarks/route to bike etc, it's just nice to remind yourself later! Also make sure you aren't wearing your running shoes or have another pair to wear after you've left them in the red bag.

Theresa - we'll MISS you. BUT you'll have your moment. As will Kev. And when you both cross a finish line it will be even more of an achievement because of the obstacles you've had to overcome. Good advice Andrew!

To help not teach how to suck eggs. But sharing some of my learning and experience from uber bad transitions! And my ppp, 1)nutrition plan have extra, just encase you need it, cold, wind, rain or slower than expected will mean you need extra intake! Also try the nutrition offered at feed stations, some people are ok with all brands other more sensitive. If you don't get on with food or drink stock up to manage on own without this. Water at feed stations - I take two one for the mouth, one or two for the head! Especially if hot to cool down. Transitions - are you wearing socks or not!!? Trying to put on socks with cold, wet hands and feet whilst standing up and in grit can be tricky. Sports socks can be a problem if too tight elasticated as get atock on wet feet. Have an old towel to stand on to dry feet. T1 is on grass. Practise if bit mad like me, by soaking feet in cold water then doing this transition. We tend to practise brick bike to run and rarely what I think is the most challenging. The t1! is the most challenging to me as more to do and remember. After footwear put on helmet before you touch your bike. Also don't panic that others are coming and going! Shoes and socks not on correctly will cause issues and blisters or impact on time later on! Invest time in T 1/2 to have smooth problem free ride and run. I often grab a mouthful of energy bar during this but hey my transition are functional not swiftly!!

GREAT advice Kate! We can talk about all of this on Sat am. Most importantly remember to put helmet on before you touch bike. Otherwise you get a time penalty. See you on Sat!

Hi all!
I just wanted to wish you all luck for Sunday. I'm unfortunately not going to be able to make it as I can't really drive in my current state. Please let me know how you all get on, I'm going to keep an eye on the website.
I know what you will be going through right now up until the start but I can assure you that when you get started you will have one hell of an experience to talk and write about. Enjoy the day and soak up everything, you've put the hard work in and now it's about making the most of the day.
I'm really annoyed I can't compete or be there however I'm super proud of the team!
Maybe we could all try and get together either at another event or for a chill out.
Speak soon.
Kev
